Colorectal cancer starts as a polyp (a growth of tissue that starts in the lining of the colon or rectum and then continues to grow) and can occur anywhere in the colon (large intestine) or the rectum (end of the colon).

Colorectal Cancer is the second  most common cancer in the United States, affecting 150,000 people annually.   Eighty to ninety percent of all cases are preventable through screening and removal of these precancerous polyps.
